Part-Time Medical Typist

This is a permanent position, onsite at Brisbane Private Hospital.  16 hours/week.    Work hours can be negotiated and may suit those wanting to work only school hours.  Previous private practice specialist typing experience essential. Immediate start available. You must be reliable, flexible, a team-player and committed. We are a rapidly growing practice with neurosurgery, anaesthetics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, research, and sessional rooms departments currently across 2 sites. You will be working in our brand-new consulting suites at Brisbane Private Hospital.  You will need exceptional attention to detail, as well as fast and accurate typing skills essential, together with a strong work ethic. 

Typist duties and responsibilities will include:

• Medical typing of general correspondence ie letters and reports (using Phillips dictation software) for two neurosurgeons,  practice nurse and  physiotherapist

• Typing of suitable duties plans, medico-legal reports, medical and physio reports. 

To be successful in your application you will have:

• Minimum typing speed of 80wpm with high level accuracy

• Experience in medical typing roles, ideally working within a specialist practice

Specialist Neurosurgical Practice Nurse

  • NO EVENING WORK

Your key day-to-day responsibilities will be:

  • Pre-operative patient education and surgical consent
  • Peri-operative inpatient ward reviews and liaison with hospital healthcare teams
  • Discharge coordination and liaison with our rehabilitation team
  • Post-operative consultations
  • Follow-up consultations for therapeutic injections
  • Responding to all clinical enquiries within the practice
  • GP liaison for current patients
  • New patient referral triage with consideration to patient’s clinical urgency
  • Wound care management
  • Pathology and imaging results review

Essential Criteria

  • APHRA registered nurse
  • Minimum 3+ years post graduate experience in nursing
  • Minimum 2+ years post graduate experience in surgical fields
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in spinal surgery field either orthopaedic or neurosurgical
  • Experience in cranial neurosurgery field

Clinical Research Assistant

(Maternity Leave Contract)

  • 6 month position with the possibility of extension
  • 8 hours per week, flexible days

  • Continue with, maintain and document quality assurance outcome measures across the practice unrelated to study
  • Participate in and report to clinical team meeting and research specific meeting on a weekly basis
  • Participate in any new research activity currently not being performed as needed and as directed
  • Report to Head of Research on research matters – Dr Ali Alavi
  • Report to Business Manager on matters relating to employment
  • Report to Clinical and Managing Director in all other matters – Dr Peter Lucas

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Enthusiasm for clinical research
  • A sound understanding of research standards, ethics, data security and confidentiality
  • Availability 4 days equalling 30hrs per week.
  • An aptitude for using research and medical practice software

Desirable Criteria

  • Library privileges with or current enrolment at a tertiary institution
  • Experience with research in a private practice setting in Australia
  • Previous clinical experience or qualification as a health professional or current enrolment in university to become a healthcare professional
  • Experience specifically in RedCap/Genie software

Hourly rate

$25-35/hr and superannuation

Bayside Medical and Physio Receptionist

  • preparing physio space with towels, tidying,
  • preparing mail-outs of marketing material
  • social media marketing posts
